As I embrace the remaining few weeks on my pregnancy, and try to stay focused on the last minute work and household “sorting” before my son is born, I can not help to hope that I will be a good mom to him…. I think a common fear every new or expecting mother has at some point. I just got off the phone with my own mom, who is currently traveling and crossing off items on her bucket list, and I can’t help to think what I couldn’t have achieved in my life, without her. Moms are special.
I just wanted to share some favorite images that never made it on my blog over the past year, as life has changed for me and I seem to have been “lacking” in the blog department of my work. This post is dedicated to all the mothers I photographed this past year. Happy Mothers Day!
On a rainy afternoon, what better way to spend it then cooking in the kitchen with your honey.
Leah and Greg wanted to capture something they share the love of. Since Greg is a chef by profession, they rightfully spend time cooking and eating inspirational meals. This day, a dish they had on a trip to Las Vegas.
Look for part two tomorrow of some beach shots from our second session, when the weather finally cleared.
- this is beautiful karen! i love the concept and you have captured it perfectly!March 1, 2012 - 7:33 am
Where did 2011 go? It really seems like last week I was at this fabulous wedding, of Kath & Jeremy, sitting by the lake surrounded by mountains at the Strathcona Park Lodge. This place was amazing for a wedding. My first time there, my husband and I were fortunate to spend 3 days in a cozy cabin lake front, enjoying the activities the couple put on for friends & family visiting.
The wedding day was a mixture of family camp meets country ease. The salmon dinner bbq’d on the fire while guests mingled sipping Champagne and congratulating the couple who were married on the lake shore. Kathryn was even brought in by a canoe, much to the aww of many guests. The weather, sunny and warm was a perfect for a lake dip after the portraits with the wedding party, pre reception. Bliss!
Congratulations to Kath & Jeremy.
- beautiful images, beautiful couple. it looks like such a loving and peaceful/calm weddingJanuary 6, 2012 - 1:39 am
Happy New Year & welcome to 2012!
The last year went by so quickly and even though it is my resolution to take this year in day by day, with all the changes in my life coming this year, I know 2012 will be over in a blink.
While I am taking some personal time off mid year, I thought a great way to start the New Year is with a special Portrait Event. This is perfect for all those past and new clients making it their resolution to up date their photos of the family or them selves this year.
I am only offering this AMAZING deal for the first 12 bookings this year. There are some restrictions, so please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to share them with you. This is a one time deal for the year, and again only available to the first 12 bookings in 2012.
Happy New Year to everyone!

Thank you to those who stopped by and said hello, and supporting a great community program!

For those of who don’t know after the lose of our dog Bailey last year, we have since adopted two wonderful puppies Shyla, a rescue from Port Hardy & Duke, from Alabama. Both of our new pups came to us from Victoria Adoptables, an amazing dog rescue organization that continues to work hard for those animals that might not have a chance to have a wonderful, caring home.
Last week, a beautiful dog named Maximus was hit buy a car on the northern part of Vancouver Island. He sustained severe injuries to his front legs. After being driven down by a person in good faith, he is now in local care undergoing treatment in hopes to save his right leg.
Victoria Adoptables is holding an auction to help with the expenses that surgeries and care this poor guy needs on his way to recovery. Along with some other great auction items, I have donated two different portrait packages, with all proceeds going to help Maximus get well.
You can bid on these items HERE until November 18th. You can also read more about Maximus HERE on the Victoria Adoptables website.
Thank you for all who have already bid on all this amazing cause, and we wish Maximus a beautiful, healthy recovery.

Med students, Sabrina & Scott met in a funny way… in their Human Anatomy class. Not typical, but a way they can call their own. On a quick 2 week leave from school in August the couple brought friends & family together at the Inn at Laurel Point to celebrate their love, before heading into another busy year.
Both families and wedding party were so amazing to work with that day. The couple are so lucky to have such wonderful people in their lives!
Congratulations !

On the second week of August, on a beautiful hot summers day, hair stylist Jessica married dairy farmer, Gerry, in a destination wedding at the beautiful Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa.
After the mid day brunch celebration, with close family & friends, guest all headed to the pool for some swim time with the couple. It was fun and the laughter was contagious.
Thank you and congratulations to the couple who are the perfect match!
